These brownies are just as the title suggests: simple. I should have added "AND DELICIOUS" to the title because they are my favorite brownies ever.
I posted my other favorite brownie recipe on In the Loop a couple of years ago, but I figured now is the time and here is the place to tell you about my actual favorite brownies. Now, these are not like the In the Loop brownies. They are not dairy free, refined sugar free or gluten free. Bring on the buttah! But, they are guilt free, as no food should ever be guilt free, right? Everything in moderation!
Make these brownies when you need to take a dessert to a friend, potluck or party, or also just make when you get that I NEED A BROWNIE STAT feeling. All reasons acceptable. Enjoy!
The Simplest Brownies
from my mom
- 1 stick butter (yep)
- 6 ounces dark chocolate
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar (again, yep)
- 2/3 cup self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8-inch baking pan.
Melt the butter and chocolate on medium heat over the stove, being careful not to burn the mixture. Stir frequently and until glossy, then remove from heat. Let rest for a few minutes to cool before adding remaining ingredients. Stir until just mixed and pour into the greased pan. Bake for 15-17 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean in the middle. I tend to err on the side of an underbaked brownie, but you be the judge. Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before cutting.
